One fibre or two for Fast Ethernet

Sequoia's Industrial Systems Division can now offer single-fibre operation on new Ethernet and Fast Ethernet technologies for system integrators and the Internet infrastructure market, following a franchise agreement with Garrett Communications to supply and support the company's state-of-the-art physical layer networking products. Selected by Garrett for its strong reputation for high quality products and excellent customer service, Sequoia will handle the Magnum range of Ethernet LAN products including 10 and 100Mbit Ethernet hubs, switches, repeaters, concentrators, fanouts, transceivers and media convertors. These products are also available with single-fibre operation, as well as traditional duplex fibre connections, giving the potential for huge savings in applications where fibre and space is at a premium.

One product available with the single-fibre option is the Magnum 14E Fast Ethernet media convertor, which offers a compact, cost-effective way to incorporate fibre media into a 100Base-FX Ethernet network.

Each device supports both full-and half-duplex mode via auto-negotiation so that an attached auto-negotiating RJ-45 switch or hub port operates at its highest performance level.

Available with fibre connectors for SC, ST, or MTRJ types, multimode or 20km single-mode, or 40km "long reach" single mode, the 14E provides system support for full-length 100Mbit fibre media distances on all fibre types.
