Board bristles with telephony-specific interfaces

The second product in SBE's wanPTMC family is the wanPTMC-256T3, a PCI Telecom Mezzanine Card (PTMC) module. The board incorporates a fully channellised T3 interface, PTMC technology for standardised local CT Bus access, complete DS3 and DS1 level signaling support, and a 256 channel synchronous communications controller with SS7 capabilities. These telephony-specific interfaces are made available through the incorporation of PICMG 2.15, the PTMC standard which extends the popular PCI mezzanine Card (PMC) module form factor.

Multiple VoIP, CTI and Softswitch system requirements can be satisfied with a single high-density wanPTMC-256T3 module.

The combination of a channellised T3 line termination and a high-density layer one signalling controller with SS7 support allows voice, physical layer signaling, and call control functions to be condensed onto a single module, eliminating the need for multiple boards, and reducing system backplane load.
