Media processing platform moves to PCI ExpressProsody X PCIe is the industry's first VoIP media processing platform with PCI Express bus compatibilityAculab, a leading provider of enabling technology for the communications market, is pleased to announce Prosody X PCIe, the industry's first VoIP media processing platform with PCI Express bus compatibility. The product targets the high volume, SME level VoIP market. Attractively priced, it delivers the lowest cost per voice channel compared with any competitive product available on the market. As the computer industry migrates towards the new PCI Express bus and the mature PCI bus fades from the motherboards of desktop and server level computing platforms, the market interest in PCI Express compliant media processing platforms is high. Commenting on this new product, Chris Gravett, Sales and Marketing Director at Aculab, said: 'Aculab has proven its technological leadership by adopting the new standard ahead of its competitors'. 'This development is consistent with our long term strategy of becoming the market leading supplier of enabling technologies for communication solutions'. Prosody X PCIe is a continuation of the success of the award winning Prosody X product line, extending it into the SME level VoIP market segment, which is characterised by high volume on one hand, and high price sensitivity on the other. The product provides connectivity, media processing and call control feature sets for both VoIP and PSTN environments, including; SIP, H.323, secure RTP, DTMF handling, T.30 and T.38 fax, a wide range of TDM protocols and approvals, a full set of voice codecs and many other features. Supporting up to 300 simultaneous voice channels, with up to four optional E1/T1 trunks, the product is a perfect choice for a wide range of SME grade communication solutions, including; media and signalling gateways, media servers, IVR and ACD, predictive diallers, contact centre platforms, conferencing and fax services and many others. Prosody X PCIe will be available in eight variants, allowing a selection of 'fit for purpose' combinations of media processing DSPs and TDM trunks for every particular application. Solutions based on the product will therefore benefit from the maximum cost efficiency and return on investment. 'The introduction of the new Prosody X form factor from Aculab addresses the market demand for lower density, high value communication solutions', commented Herman Abel, Product Manager at Aculab. 'The SME telephony market is rapidly migrating from analogue and TDM towards IP'. 'The demand for attractively priced VoIP processing and connectivity technologies is incredible'. Evaluation trials for the new product will commence in the following few weeks, while the release to general availability and customer shipments is expected to start later on in the year. |
